About the Role
You will lead a team of 4–6 senior backend and platform engineers while owning hiring coaching performance management and career development. You will guide architecture and technical direction remain hands-on in code reviews and prototyping and improve engineering standards reliability observability incident response and operational excellence. You will also translate business goals into technical plans and communicate tradeoffs across functions.
Requirements
- 4+ years building production software
- 3+ years managing and developing engineers
- Recent hands-on production coding or code review experience
- Experience with distributed backend systems data modeling consistency idempotency queues and event-driven design
- Track record of improving engineering quality velocity or reliability
- Experience with pager duty incident command and preventing recurring outages
- Experience in payments fintech banking infrastructure or another regulated financial domain
- Strong hiring and coaching experience
- Clear written communication
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast execution
- Experience with card issuing processing or Visa and Mastercard networks
- Working knowledge of stablecoins onchain settlement custody key management EVM or Solana infrastructure
- Experience with SOC 2 PCI DSS or bank and program-manager oversight
- Experience leading distributed or multi-region teams
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop 4–6 senior backend and platform engineers
- Own hiring coaching performance management and career development
- Guide architecture technical direction data modeling scalability and technical debt decisions
- Review pull requests prototype solutions debug systems and implement scoped changes
- Raise standards for testing code quality observability incident response and on-call practices
- Own SLOs error budgets resilience reliability and auditability for money movement systems
- Translate business goals into sequenced technical plans and communicate tradeoffs and risks
- Partner on organizational design headcount planning technical strategy and engineering practices
