About the Role
You will lead, coach, and grow a Toronto-based data engineering team while contributing to technical execution through code and architecture reviews. You will set roadmaps, translate ambiguous requirements into engineering goals, improve data discoverability, and partner with data, machine learning, product, and operations stakeholders.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- 5+ years of prior software engineering or data engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with Python and Apache Spark
- Familiarity with AWS
- Familiarity with Databricks, Delta Lake, Flink, or Pinot/Druid
- Ability to plan projects and guide engineering execution in ambiguous situations
- Experience building and maintaining reliable large-scale data pipelines and foundational datasets
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of data engineers
- Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, data-quality assessment, and technical problem solving
- Define roadmaps and execution plans for core data engineering initiatives
- Build data discovery, semantic modeling, metadata, and developer-tooling platforms
- Partner with Data Science, Machine Learning, and Business Operations to build scalable data pipelines and datasets
