About the Role
You will lead the interpretation and implementation of complex accounting standards and serve as the subject-matter expert on U.S. GAAP. You will evaluate complex and digital-asset transactions, prepare technical accounting documentation, work with external auditors and internal stakeholders, maintain accounting policies and controls, support M&A and SEC reporting, and mentor accounting staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Active CPA license in good standing
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Significant public accounting or industry technical accounting experience
- Deep current knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience researching and documenting complex technical accounting positions
- Understanding of SEC reporting requirements or equivalent stakeholder reporting needs
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Responsibilities
- Research, interpret, and apply accounting standards to company-specific transactions
- Evaluate and document accounting treatment for digital asset and crypto-related transactions
- Draft technical accounting memos and position papers for complex transactions
- Monitor emerging FASB, SEC, and PCAOB guidance and lead new-standard implementation
- Lead discussions with external auditors and resolve technical accounting issues
- Partner with internal stakeholders to evaluate accounting implications of contracts and strategic initiatives
- Support M&A activity, including purchase accounting, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration
- Develop and maintain the accounting policy manual
- Assess internal controls and partner with SOX teams on control design and operation
- Present technical accounting matters to senior leadership and the Audit Committee
- Partner with the Chief Accounting Officer and engage with industry working groups
- Mentor and develop accounting staff
- Assist with SEC reporting disclosures related to technical accounting
