About the Role
You will set the technical vision and roadmap for mechanical, thermal, and EWIS engineering across X-BAT avionics. You will build and lead multiple engineering teams, establish engineering standards and design-review practices, make key architecture decisions, and guide hardware from architecture through qualification and production. You will coordinate resourcing, suppliers, manufacturing strategy, schedules, and cross-functional product delivery.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 15+ years of mechanical design experience around electronics and electrical systems.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience.
- Experience managing managers or leading multiple engineering teams.
- Record of building and scaling engineering teams.
- Record of delivering complex avionics or electro-mechanical hardware through production.
- Technical fluency in avionics packaging, FEA, thermal analysis, and fatigue and lifecycle testing.
- Experience setting organizational engineering strategy, standards, and processes.
- Experience managing fabrication shops, contract manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap for mechanical, thermal, and EWIS engineering.
- Build and scale a multi-team organization.
- Deliver complex electro-mechanical hardware from architecture through qualification and production.
- Set engineering standards, design-review practices, and processes.
- Serve as the final technical authority on mechanical and thermal architecture tradeoffs.
- Partner with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing leaders on product delivery.
- Own resourcing, schedule, supplier, contract-manufacturer, and make-versus-buy planning.
