About the Role

You will lead the legal workstream for energy and power procurement for EMEA data centre campuses. You will negotiate power, utility, grid, generation, energy supply, and related infrastructure agreements; manage external counsel; advise on risk allocation; and support project delivery through operation.

Requirements

  • 7+ years PQE legal experience in energy, power, infrastructure, or major projects.
  • Qualification as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales or another relevant EMEA jurisdiction.
  • Experience negotiating complex energy and power arrangements.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical, industrial, infrastructure, or energy-intensive projects.
  • Experience working across multiple EMEA jurisdictions and managing local counsel.
  • Knowledge of energy and infrastructure risk allocation.
  • Ability to negotiate multiple high-value contracts.
  • Ability to explain legal and commercial risk to non-lawyers and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiations for power procurement, utility supply, grid connection, interconnection, and network-use arrangements.
  • Draft and negotiate PPAs, energy supply agreements, renewable-energy arrangements, and attribute procurement structures.
  • Negotiate agreements for on-site generation, energy storage, microgrids, and critical power infrastructure.
  • Support grid-connection and energisation programmes.
  • Advise on energy and power risk allocation.
  • Align power procurement with development schedules and operational requirements.
  • Assess power availability, utility constraints, and energy-related contractual risks.
  • Maintain procurement templates, playbooks, and contracting positions.
  • Manage EMEA outside counsel.
  • Monitor regulatory developments relevant to energy procurement and grid access.
