About the Role

You will serve as the senior technical authority for space-domain autonomy. You will define mission architecture, system and software designs, autonomous behaviors, processing and dissemination strategies, interfaces, verification plans, and technical risk controls. You will lead technical readiness through mission milestones and mentor a multidisciplinary technical organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in autonomy, space systems, aerospace, robotics, mission systems, ISR, satellite operations, distributed systems, or comparable fields
  • Experience as a Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, Technical Director, Principal or Distinguished Engineer, IPT lead, or equivalent senior technical leader
  • Experience delivering software-intensive mission systems with high reliability, mission assurance, or certifiability requirements
  • Technical depth in autonomy, space mission systems, compute architectures, payload processing, mission-data integration, or systems engineering
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary matrixed engineering organization
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer-facing technical experience supporting proposals, solution architecture, demonstrations, or technical reviews

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for space-domain autonomy
  • Define and evolve autonomy architecture across satellites, payloads, ground systems, networks, cloud, edge compute, and data sources
  • Lead development of autonomous tasking, scheduling, replanning, resource allocation, and coordination behaviors
  • Define approaches for autonomous payload selection, cueing, configuration, and collection
  • Architect on-board and off-board processing strategies
  • Lead design of exploitation capabilities including sensor fusion, event detection, and anomaly detection
  • Define mission-product dissemination standards and interfaces
  • Establish autonomy interfaces across spacecraft, payload, ground, cloud, data, and mission systems
  • Lead verification, validation, technical readiness, and technical-risk retirement
  • Build and mentor a multidisciplinary technical organization
