About the Role
You will serve as the chief engineering authority for autonomy solutions on unmanned aircraft. You will lead engineers, define technical objectives and requirements, make engineering decisions, manage system architecture and risk, oversee technical deliverables, and support research, defence contracts, and government proposal development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field
- 10+ years of industry experience in autonomy or UAS platforms
- 7+ years of delivering software into production or certifiable high-reliability environments
- Understanding of guidance, control, and navigation
- Understanding of robotics stacks, including controls, estimation, perception, and planning
- Understanding of software development processes and software deployment
- Experience defining technical scope and managing technical requirements, product architectures, ICDs, and system-level design documentation
- Problem-solving skills using a scientific technical approach
- Experience as a customer-facing engineering leader supporting defence and internally funded development programs
- Government contract proposal writing experience
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership experience managing 6–20 engineers
Responsibilities
- Serve as Chief Engineer on projects developing and deploying autonomy solutions for unmanned aircraft
- Lead engineers advancing Hivemind Autonomy and Department of Defense autonomy architectures
- Define and assign technical objectives
- Make key engineering decisions and ensure technical deliverable quality and completeness
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for internal research and development initiatives and Department of Defense contracts
