About the Role
The Chief Executive Officer will lead Systemic Trust Company from licensing to commercialization, personally develop institutional relationships, build a compliant custody platform, oversee governance and regulatory engagement, and own the company's profit and loss.
Requirements
- Five to ten years of progressive experience in business development, institutional sales, or CEO/general management
- Proven success serving family offices, investment funds, and alternative asset managers
- Track record of personally originating and closing institutional mandates with revenue or P&L ownership
- Strong familiarity with digital assets and crypto markets
- Network or credibility within Canadian capital allocators or crypto funds preferred
- Experience in regulated financial environments and familiarity with LTCA, NI 31-103 qualified custodian requirements, and FINTRAC AML/ATF obligations
- Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics, law, or a related discipline
- MBA, CFA, or equivalent graduate credential is an asset
- Must satisfy Alberta Treasury Board and Finance fit-and-proper requirements and related approvals
Responsibilities
- Personally originate and close institutional custody mandates with Canadian family offices, crypto-native funds, pension funds, and broker-dealers
- Develop and lead a high-functioning sales team
- Own pipeline development, RFP responses, and pitch leadership
- Serve as senior relationship owner for key client accounts
- Represent the company at industry conferences, regulatory roundtables, and client events
- Define competitive positioning and value proposition
- Direct strategic partnerships with prime brokers, OTC desks, exchanges, and fund administrators
- Evaluate new service offerings with the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Technology Officer
- Transition the company from licensed entity to active custodian with live assets
- Serve as primary liaison between management and the Board
- Maintain governance compliance with the Loan and Trust Corporations Act and securities legislation
- Develop senior relationships with ATBF, ASC, FINTRAC, and CSA members
- Participate in industry consultations and policy working groups
- Own profit and loss while partnering with the CFO on financial planning, pricing, and fee structures
