About the Role
You will own engineering strategy architecture and the multi-year technical roadmap across financial infrastructure and partner integrations. You will set quality standards guide high-consequence technical decisions and drive reliability scalability security compliance and engineering velocity. You will hire and coach engineering leaders own headcount planning and represent engineering with executives the board partners and customers.
Requirements
- 15+ years building production software
- 8+ years leading engineers
- Meaningful experience leading managers
- Recent production coding or code review experience sufficient for architecture reviews
- Experience with distributed backend systems data modeling consistency idempotency queues and event-driven design
- Track record of improving engineering quality velocity or reliability
- Experience with pager duty incident command and preventing recurring outages
- Experience in payments fintech banking infrastructure or another regulated financial domain
- Experience hiring and developing engineering managers
- Clear written communication
- Executive experience in board and partner conversations
- Comfort holding technical positions under commercial pressure
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast execution
- Experience with card issuing processing or Visa and Mastercard networks
- Working knowledge of stablecoins onchain settlement custody key management EVM or Solana infrastructure
- Experience with SOC 2 PCI DSS or bank and program-manager oversight
- Experience leading distributed or multi-region teams
Responsibilities
- Own engineering strategy architecture and the multi-year technical roadmap
- Set and maintain standards for system design code review testing observability documentation and technical decisions
- Review critical designs and guide high-consequence architecture and build-versus-buy decisions
- Establish SLOs improve incident response plan capacity for 10x growth and design resilient systems
- Build security compliance and correctness into platform design
- Improve CI/CD developer tooling local environments technical debt management and architecture
- Hire and coach engineering managers and technical leads
- Establish team ownership and boundaries and own headcount planning and performance standards
- Translate company strategy into technical plans
- Partner across Product Design Risk Compliance and go-to-market functions
- Represent engineering to the board banking and network partners and customers
