About the Role
You will set the technical direction for the controls stack from new-platform development through production deployment. You will design actuator and trajectory controllers, develop safe redundant systems, characterize vehicle dynamics, build scalable calibration workflows, mentor engineers, and collaborate with customer engineers during field deployments.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, or computer science with controls coursework or research experience
- 6+ years of experience building production software
- Experience leading engineers or owning a technical area
- Experience taking controls solutions from prototype through deployment on production vehicles
- Experience mentoring engineers, prioritizing roadmaps, and driving technical decisions
- Fluency in differential equations, numerical optimization, numerical analysis, and physics
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for the controls stack
- Design and implement low-level actuator and trajectory-tracking controllers
- Design safe and redundant control systems
- Characterize customer vehicle dynamics
- Build scalable calibration and vehicle-characterization workflows
- Lead, mentor, and grow the controls team
- Apply academic research to optimal-control solutions
- Collaborate with customer engineers during field deployments
