About the Role

You will own and improve production trading systems, including order processing, matching engines, order books, trade execution, APIs, market data, and exchange integrations. You will improve performance, reliability, consistency, risk controls, settlement, reconciliation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident response while collaborating on technical priorities and supporting other engineers.

  • 5–7+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend development experience
  • Strong Go skills, or strong Rust, C++, or Java skills with willingness to work primarily in Go
  • Experience building, operating, or improving trading systems, exchange infrastructure, matching engines, or comparable real-time transaction-processing platforms
  • Understanding of order books, order lifecycles, matching logic, and trade execution
  • Experience with performance, concurrency, reliability, data consistency, idempotency, exactly-once processing, and recovery from partial failures
  • Experience with low-latency, highly available systems under heavy load
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, databases, and distributed systems
  • Experience designing APIs, event-driven services, and scalable backend architectures
  • Experience with profiling, latency percentiles, memory tuning, and garbage-collection tuning
  • Knowledge of Linux internals and TCP/UDP networking
  • Experience with testing, debugging, performance optimization, production reliability, simulation, fuzzing, or replaying production traffic
  • Production on-call, incident response, and OS, network, and application-layer debugging experience
  • Experience at a cryptocurrency exchange, financial trading platform, or electronic market
  • Familiarity with risk controls, settlement, or market data infrastructure
  • Knowledge of wallets, custody, blockchain nodes, and deposit and withdrawal pipelines
  • Knowledge of bank transfers, local payment networks, settlement, and reconciliation
  • Familiarity with FIX, event sourcing, or low-latency patterns such as LMAX Disruptor
  • Experience with market surveillance, regulatory reporting, or audits at a regulated venue
  • TypeScript and Node.js experience for supporting services, gateways, or internal tools

Responsibilities

  • Own, operate, and harden the Busha Pro exchange in production
  • Design, build, and optimize backend systems for trading capabilities
  • Develop and improve matching engine components, order books, order processing, and trade execution workflows
  • Build reliable high-volume transaction systems with speed, accuracy, and consistency
  • Develop REST, WebSocket, and future FIX APIs, real-time market data, event-driven services, and platform integrations
  • Benchmark, profile, load-test, and reduce latency in the matching path
  • Build pre-trade risk checks, price bands, circuit breakers, kill switches, failover, and disaster recovery safeguards
  • Settle trades and fees atomically and reconcile crypto and fiat deposits and withdrawals
  • Add trading pairs, order types, and features with zero downtime
  • Analyze product requirements and propose technical solutions
  • Write testable, maintainable code and participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
  • Test matching and ledger invariants through simulation and replay
  • Own features through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring
  • Participate in the production trading systems on-call rotation
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and DevOps
  • Support other engineers and contribute to engineering practices
