About the Role
You will design and build REST, streaming and FIX trading and market-data APIs. You will modernise FIX services, own services from architecture through production, improve latency and reliability through observability, and diagnose live issues with support and client-facing teams.
Requirements
- Substantial commercial experience building backend systems in Java
- Strong concurrency and multi-threading knowledge
- Experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems
- Spring Framework and Spring Boot experience
- Experience designing and operating externally facing APIs
- Cloud experience, ideally AWS
- Linux proficiency and shell scripting
- Ability to diagnose production problems using logs, metrics and traces
- Clear communication with non-engineers
Responsibilities
- Design and build trading and market-data APIs using REST, streaming and FIX
- Modernise FIX session handling, market-data distribution and order flow
- Solve resilience, recovery and correctness challenges in real-time distributed systems
- Own services through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production operation
- Use observability data to improve latency, throughput and reliability
- Diagnose live issues with FIX Support, dealing desks and client-facing teams
- Shape spec-driven and AI-assisted development practices
- Improve engineering standards for testing, documentation and design
