About the Role
You will own the end-to-end design, development, and operation of critical backend systems. You will set technical direction, solve complex technical problems, build fast and reliable Go services and APIs, improve production reliability, lead incident response, mentor engineers, and turn ambiguous requirements into working systems.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java, with Go preferred
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, data structures, and algorithms
- Experience designing, shipping, and operating high-scale distributed systems in production
- Expertise in correctness and reliability for systems with financial consequences
- Technical leadership across teams and experience mentoring engineers
- Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, and drive work forward
- Judgment balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
Responsibilities
- Own the design, build, and operation of critical backend systems from architecture through production
- Set technical direction and influence architecture across teams
- Turn complex, open-ended technical problems into clear plans that ship
- Build fast, correct, and extensible services and APIs primarily in Go
- Profile and tune performance, lead incident response, and prevent recurring production issues
- Maintain a high standard for correctness in financially consequential systems
- Partner with Product, Infrastructure, Data, and business stakeholders to deliver working systems
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and establish engineering standards
