About the Role

You will develop operational safety concepts, plans, processes, and metrics for autonomous-vehicle testing. You will assess safety risks, analyze test data, investigate incidents, review engineering materials, create mitigation plans, and coordinate safety work across product development and fleet operations.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience or Master's degree with 0–3+ years of experience
Knowledge of automotive, heavy-truck, or aerospace products and industries
Experience in automotive and surface-transportation safety
Knowledge of systems engineering, HARA, DFMEA, FTA, or STPA
Experience in project management, vehicle-program management, product development lifecycle, and project planning
Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama
Strong problem-solving, root-cause analysis, written communication, and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain operational safety concepts and work products
Develop test-safety processes for software releases and public-road testing
Lead safety risk assessments with stakeholders
Develop and document operational safety plans, requirements, and concepts
Support safe autonomous-vehicle testing procedures
Analyze data and provide real-time safety support for operational testing
Develop operational-safety metrics
Evaluate test safety results and develop risk-mitigation plans
Support accident and incident response, investigations, and corrective actions
Review engineering specifications, procedures, and reports for test-safety impacts
Perform safety and reliability analyses including FMEA, DFMEA, DFMEDA, FTA, and STPA
Coordinate stakeholders to embed test safety in development testing and operations
