About the Role
You will operate Class 8 autonomous and manual vehicles on closed courses and public roads. You will execute validation and release testing, assess vehicle behavior, conduct dynamics campaigns, write actionable evaluations, train operators, maintain documentation, assess compliance, and escalate safety-critical findings. You will work a flexible day shift.
Requirements
- 8+ years of Vehicle Operator, commercial test driver, or equivalent Class 8 operations experience
- 4 years of experience with autonomous or ADAS-equipped vehicles
- CDL Class A
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Clean driving record, background check, and drug screen
- Technical aptitude with autonomy platforms
- Experience characterizing vehicle behavior
- Written communication skills
- Familiarity with closed-course and proving-ground testing protocols
- Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT requirements, including DVIR, Hours of Service, DOT inspections, CVSA criteria, and 49 CFR Parts 393 and 396
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Ability to travel to operational sites and proving grounds
Responsibilities
- Operate Class 8 autonomous and manual vehicles on closed courses and public roads
- Execute platform validation, verification, and release testing
- Evaluate vehicle behavior and produce actionable written reports
- Conduct vehicle dynamics and characterization campaigns
- Administer operator knowledge and proficiency checks
- Author and maintain operator documentation
- Assess DOT and CVSA compliance for new platforms
- Train operators on new platforms
- Escalate safety-relevant findings and stop testing when warranted
