About the Role

You will lead external evaluation and investigation engagements from initial scoping through final dissemination. You will define scope and milestones, coordinate technical work and dependencies, manage partner relationships, engage with evaluation findings, resolve issues, and communicate deliverables to technical and non-technical audiences. You will help turn individual engagements into repeatable workflows while protecting technical staff time.

Requirements

  • Understand AI evaluations and engage with technical teams on evaluation design and results.
  • Demonstrate a track record of managing cross-functional teams.
  • Have experience engaging external partners, such as frontier AI companies, government actors, or civil society organizations.
  • Work through ambiguity and deliver against complex, evolving goals on short timelines.
  • Translate technical research for a range of audiences.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and relationship skills.
  • Be open to giving and receiving feedback.
  • Be willing to travel regularly.
  • Be willing to work from the San Francisco office.

Responsibilities

  • Define engagement scope, set milestones, and negotiate terms with operations support.
  • Organize technical work, manage dependencies, and keep stakeholders aligned.
  • Advise on strategic and methodological questions, including relevant regulatory guidance.
  • Manage day-to-day partner relationships, build trust, and resolve issues.
  • Engage with evaluation results and technical analysis to identify issues and advance engagements.
  • Present deliverables and summarize results through blog posts, papers, and government and media briefings.
