About the Role

You will lead a five-person fiber technician crew installing, splicing, testing, and maintaining outside plant fiber infrastructure for a new data center. You will set daily priorities, work alongside the crew in the field, enforce safety and quality standards, coordinate construction activities, maintain accurate records, and support commissioning and emergency restoration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5+ years of experience in fiber optic OSP installation, splicing, testing, or maintenance
  • 2+ years of experience leading technicians
  • Hands-on proficiency with fusion splicing and fiber test equipment including OTDR and OLTS
  • Ability to work in outdoor construction conditions and work nights, weekends, or overtime as needed
  • Ability to perform physically demanding field duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and working at elevated heights
  • Ability to work around fumes, odors, noise, heat, cold, and rain

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, schedule, and develop fiber technicians
  • Plan and assign daily aerial and underground OSP work
  • Perform splicing, testing, and field work alongside the team
  • Enforce safety, PPE, lockout, traffic control, and utility-locate practices
  • Own splice quality, test results, labeling, and as-built records
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, utilities, and data center teams
  • Track production, quality, material usage, risks, and resource needs
  • Manage tools, test equipment, vehicles, and fiber inventory
  • Ensure field work matches drawings and standards and close as-builts
  • Support commissioning, emergency restoration, and after-hours work
