About the Role
You will lead the design, implementation, and operation of API capabilities for developers. You will turn new model abilities into durable interfaces, lead API readiness for model launches, coordinate cross-functional work, and improve launch safety and speed. You will set technical direction, write and review design proposals, build production systems and evaluations, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Experience leading technical projects across multiple teams from design through launch and operation
- Experience designing and operating production distributed systems
- Knowledge of correctness, latency, and availability in distributed systems
- API design and developer experience expertise
- Ability to make technical decisions with incomplete information
- Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical partners
- Experience with design review and engineering mentorship
- Experience using AI tools for software design, development, and review
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build, and operation of developer API capabilities
- Translate new model abilities into simple, durable API interfaces
- Lead API readiness for model launches across features, SDKs, documentation, and cloud partners
- Plan launch work, track cross-functional readiness, and resolve launch issues
- Set technical direction across multiple teams
- Write and review API design proposals
- Build and operate production tools such as web search and code execution
- Build evaluations that detect capability regressions
- Mentor engineers through design review and technical guidance
