About Cross River Bank
Cross River operates a proprietary real-time banking core platform that delivers embedded financial services to fintech and technology companies. The platform provides payment rails including ACH, wires, RTP, and FedNow, card issuing and processing capabilities, digital lending infrastructure, and cryptocurrency banking services. About the Role
You will turn business goals into cross-team technical strategy and architecture. You will make system-design decisions, set engineering standards, resolve difficult reliability and integration problems, mentor engineers, and prototype and ship high-risk code in a regulated financial environment.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and operating production software
- Experience with distributed backend systems at scale
- Experience leading technically across multiple teams without formal authority
- System-design expertise in scale, reliability, latency, cost, and security tradeoffs
- Expertise in a backend stack, preferably .NET or C#
- Fluency with cloud, data at scale, real-time and streaming systems, CI/CD, and observability
- Strong security and compliance knowledge
- Technical writing skills
- Experience in financial or regulated domains is a plus
Responsibilities
- Translate business goals into cross-team technical strategy and architecture
- Own system-design decisions, service boundaries, data models, stack choices, and tradeoffs
- Define coding, testing, security, observability, and operational-readiness standards
- Align engineering managers and teams around platform-level decisions
- Unblock teams on scale, latency, reliability, integration, and production-incident problems
- Identify gaps, propose fixes, and drive them across teams
- Mentor and develop engineers
- Prototype and ship high-leverage, high-risk code
- Set quality, security, and compliance standards
