About the Role
Set technical direction for cross-cutting backend platform infrastructure, including durable workflow orchestration, transaction ordering, concurrency control, shared service primitives, and reliability standards. Design multi-service systems, establish tooling and deployment practices, align engineering teams, and identify architectural risks before incidents occur.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of backend software engineering experience
- Experience setting technical direction across multiple services or teams
- Expertise in durable workflow or orchestration systems, distributed transaction ordering, or data-consistency guarantees
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript
- Production experience with Effect or a comparable functional effect system preferred
- Experience designing reusable shared platform components
- Experience driving cross-team technical alignment without formal authority
- Knowledge of idempotency, at-least-once delivery, crash recovery, and reconciliation
- Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated financial infrastructure preferred
- Experience with blockchain or custody-adjacent transaction systems preferred
- Experience building internal platform tooling or organization-wide standards preferred
Responsibilities

- Align engineering teams on shared technical direction
- Represent backend platform engineering in technical planning
