About the Role
You will serve as the technical authority for system safety and compliance. You will assess and improve safety frameworks, embed safety requirements into development and deployment, lead certifications and standards engagement, oversee EHS programs, and communicate safety architecture to customers and partners.
Requirements
- 10+ years of safety engineering experience in robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, or heavy industrial automation
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Knowledge of IEC 61508
- Knowledge of ISO 13849 Parts 1 and 2
- Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity standards
- Ability to develop innovative safety solutions from first principles
- Experience using LLMs and modern software tools for research, technical writing, and workflow automation
- Experience participating in industry standards committees
- Ability to influence executives, OEMs, and regulatory bodies
- Ability to define and execute a safety roadmap in a startup environment
Responsibilities
- Architect system safety for the robotics platform
- Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to embed safety into development
- Represent the organization on national and international standards committees
- Use generative AI and advanced tools for regulatory research, documentation, and hazard analysis
- Lead end-to-end certification processes across hardware, software, and cybersecurity
- Act as the safety authority for OEM partners and customers
- Oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety programs
- Audit existing safety architecture, EHS programs, and compliance documentation
- Drive ongoing and future safety certification strategies
- Review and improve internal EHS training
