About the Role
You will build and own the reliability program for a fleet of autonomous cargo aircraft. You will investigate failures, identify root causes, analyze operational data, conduct reliability assessments, establish maintenance limits, and drive design, manufacturing, and flight-operations fixes through permanent closure.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years of hands-on reliability work on UAV or aviation programs
- Demonstrated improvements to UAV or aviation reliability, such as lower failure rates, higher MTBF, or improved fleet availability
- Experience building or driving a reliability program, including FRACAS
- Hands-on troubleshooting across software, electrical, mechanical, and controls systems
- Knowledge of FMEA, fault tree analysis, 8D, Weibull analysis, and reliability growth tracking
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, or similar flight-data analysis tools
- Technical writing and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Build and own the end-to-end reliability program, including failure reporting, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and fleet reliability metrics
- Lead hands-on investigations into aircraft failures across avionics, flight software, power and propulsion, structures, and flight controls
- Troubleshoot failures and develop fixes with design engineers
- Analyze flight logs, telemetry, maintenance, and manufacturing data to identify and prioritize recurring failure modes
- Run FMEA and fault tree analysis on critical V3 systems and convert findings into design changes
- Set and revise inspection intervals and life limits as fleet hours accumulate
- Drive corrective actions through design, manufacturing, and flight operations to permanent closure
- Report fleet reliability trends to engineering and company leadership
