About the Role
You will lead the design, development, testing, and validation of ground support equipment for aircraft operations and sustainment. You will create CAD models and specifications, perform structural and thermal analysis, support manufacturing and suppliers, and provide engineering support during flight test campaigns.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical design for aerospace, ground support equipment, or heavy industrial systems.
- Expertise with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX.
- Experience with 3D modeling, drawing creation, and system layout.
- Knowledge of structural analysis, material selection, and manufacturing processes for ruggedized systems.
- Experience designing deployable, transportable, field-ready aerospace support equipment.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD requirements for aerospace ground support systems.
- Experience with finite element analysis, thermal analysis, and fatigue or lifecycle testing.
- Ability to work in an agile development environment.
- Ability to obtain an S//SAR security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop ground support equipment mechanical systems, including power units, transport structures, launch and recovery systems, and maintenance tools.
- Create CAD models, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing and assembly.
- Conduct structural, thermal, and fatigue analysis for field durability and reliability.
- Integrate ground support equipment with aircraft systems and mission operations.
- Perform trade studies and optimize support-system portability, ruggedness, and maintainability.
- Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation to meet military and aviation standards.
- Develop technical documentation, test procedures, and support manuals.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners on production and sustainment.
- Support flight test campaigns, ground systems, and test operations.
