About the Role
You will develop design-for-reliability practices and verify flight-hardware reliability from concept through production. You will lead environmental and stress testing, conduct failure analysis, investigate manufacturing and field failures, review designs, shape materials and manufacturing requirements, analyze reliability data, and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
Requirements
- Technical background in materials science, electronics manufacturing, hardware reliability, and environmental testing
- Bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Reliability Engineering
- Familiarity with PCBs, PCBAs, electronic components, and moving mechanical assemblies
- Experience executing product design from concept through production with interdisciplinary teams
- Technical project-management experience
- Proficiency in Python, NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Plotly, and Matplotlib
- Familiarity with IPC, JEDEC, AIAA, AEC, MIL, and SMC standards
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement design-for-reliability practices
- Conduct stress screening, environmental testing, and failure analysis
- Analyze designs and test results to identify failure modes and mitigations
- Collaborate with design engineers early in the design process
- Review and approve designs for release
- Participate in design reviews and FMEA activities
- Investigate manufacturing non-conformances and field hardware failures
- Travel to investigate supplier processes
- Develop corrective actions for reliability issues
- Use reliability modeling and simulation tools to predict performance and lifespan
- Implement reliability process improvements
