About the Role
You will develop C and C++ firmware for aircraft, maintain and modernize embedded software, integrate RTOS platforms, and build automated testing pipelines. You will design software architectures and interfaces, perform reviews, integrate cross-functional software, and support production, testing, release, and deployment.
Requirements
- Software development experience in C and C++
- Experience with bare-metal firmware development for embedded systems
- Experience with Linux Kernel or RTOS development, device trees, and hardware bring-up
- Familiarity with thread-safe multithreaded programming
- Experience owning development processes and features
- Track record of shipping products through development cycles
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a STEM discipline
Responsibilities
- Develop C and C++ code for V-BAT aircraft
- Refine firmware for new hardware, features, and capabilities
- Integrate an RTOS onto custom System-On-a-Module hardware
- Develop firmware for robotic vehicles in flight
- Convert bare-metal software to an RTOS-based system
- Create CI/CD pipelines with automated embedded-system testing
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews
- Integrate firmware, test and verification software, autonomy software, and ground control stations
- Develop interfaces for avionics sensors, subsystems, and payloads
- Facilitate software architecture updates
- Support systems engineering processes
- Report status, risks, accomplishments, and expectations to senior leadership
- Support in-house UAV manufacturing
- Design test systems using virtualized hardware and hardware-in-the-loop simulations
- Develop tools for deployment, testing, and data analysis
- Create prototypes to validate design concepts and technical limitations
