About the Role

You will define aircraft thermal environments and create thermal-management solutions for critical installations. You will perform thermal and fluid analyses, design cooling hardware, manage requirements and risks, integrate hardware, support suppliers, and validate systems through qualification testing.

Requirements

  • United States citizenship and an active Secret or higher security clearance.
  • 7 to 12 years of aerospace thermal engineering, environmental control systems, or vehicle thermal and fluid-system development experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid-dynamics expertise.
  • Hand-calculation, finite-difference, and CFD or thermal-analysis experience.
  • Active and passive cooling-system design experience.
  • 3D CAD modeling, hardware layout, routing, drawing release, and PLM workflow experience.
  • COTS and custom aerospace component sourcing, supplier management, and test-setup experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define aircraft-level thermal environments and thermal-management solutions.
  • Perform heat-transfer and fluid-mechanics calculations and develop analytical, finite-difference, and CFD models.
  • Design and evaluate active and passive cooling solutions.
  • Generate thermal requirements, assess technical risks, and recommend designs.
  • Develop thermal hardware layouts and CAD models and resolve system interfaces.
  • Define verification test plans, design test rigs, support instrumentation, and correlate models with test data.
  • Author technical specifications, evaluate suppliers, and drive prototype build and test.
  • Execute qualification test plans and support airworthiness certification.
  • Communicate thermal findings through design reviews and technical reports.
