About the Role

You will own the mechanical, thermal-mechanical, and enclosure design of rack-mounted AI inference systems. You will create designs, models, drawings, BOMs, and tolerance analyses; lead thermal and structural simulations; manage manufacturing partners; improve manufacturability and cost; develop fixtures and packaging; and oversee validation, risks, ECOs, and production escalations.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7+ years designing electromechanical and enclosure hardware for high-performance electronic systems
  • Experience across the NPI lifecycle from concept through volume production
  • Expertise in 3D CAD using SolidWorks and/or Creo
  • Experience with detailed drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and structural and thermal simulation
  • Experience with rack-mount or high-density electronic packaging
  • Experience selecting, qualifying, and managing custom-part suppliers and contract manufacturers through EVT, DVT, and pilot phases
  • Experience applying DFM, DFA, and FMEA in high-volume or high-complexity production
  • Ability to write mechanical specifications and communicate trade-offs across technical and operations teams

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanical design for enclosures, chassis, and carrier-board integration for rack-mount inference systems
  • Create spatial studies, detailed designs, solid models, drawings, BOMs, and tolerance stack-up analyses
  • Lead thermal-mechanical and structural design and simulation for high-TDP ASIC platforms
  • Partner with electrical and thermal teams to meet air- and liquid-cooled performance targets
  • Lead engagement with contract manufacturers, ODMs, and custom-part fabricators through production ramp
  • Conduct DFM, DFA, and DFMEA reviews to reduce cost and improve design robustness
  • Develop and qualify electromechanical assembly and test fixtures
  • Own product packaging design, transit qualification, and implementation
  • Create mechanical test plans and support EMC/EMI shielding and regulatory needs
  • Manage mechanical risks, ECOs, and technical escalations
