About the Role
You will design and develop structural components and assemblies for a UAV platform through concept development, CAD modeling, detailed design, and drawing release. You will perform hand calculations and basic FEA, coordinate airframe interfaces, support structural validation, create aerospace documentation, resolve build issues, and support hardware through flight testing and deployment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5 or more years of aircraft structural design or related aerospace structures experience
- Experience designing and releasing structural components
- Knowledge of composite and metallic structures, fasteners, bonded joints, and load paths
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks
- Understanding of GD&T, tolerance stackups, and DFMA principles
- Written and verbal technical communication skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced engineering environment
Responsibilities
- Design and develop structural components and assemblies for a UAV platform
- Execute conceptual development, CAD modeling, detailed design, and drawing release
- Perform stress and strain hand calculations and basic FEA analysis
- Collaborate on airframe interface integration with engineering disciplines
- Support coupon, subcomponent, and system-level structural validation
- Generate design documentation, drawings, interface definitions, and analysis reports
- Resolve build issues with manufacturing and flight-test teams
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions
- Improve expertise in structural layout, joints, fasteners, tolerancing, and structural optimization
