About the Role
You will lead and mentor software engineers building automated production test stands for avionics hardware. You will own the test-software roadmap, develop Python automation systems, guide architecture and releases, partner with electrical and mechanical engineers, improve test performance, and lead root-cause analysis across hardware and software systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, test automation, embedded systems, hardware-integrated software, or related fields
- 2+ years of direct people-management experience
- Experience building, deploying, and sustaining automated functional-test systems for complex hardware
- Strong Python experience for automation, hardware communication, instrument control, data acquisition, and test orchestration
- Experience with C++ or C in hardware-facing applications
- Experience with electrical hardware, test fixtures, instrumentation, and devices under test
- Familiarity with FPGA-enabled hardware
- Familiarity with Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP, serial, CAN, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO, PCIe, or JTAG
- Experience with Git, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, release management, and configuration control
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow software engineers supporting avionics production testing
- Own the roadmap and execution for automated test stands and test-data systems
- Build Python software for test sequencing, equipment control, data collection, evaluation, and reporting
- Guide software architecture, code quality, configuration management, CI/CD, releases, and documentation
- Translate avionics interfaces and failure modes into automated test coverage
- Coordinate fixture, cabling, safety, and operator workflow requirements
- Configure, communicate with, and validate FPGA-enabled hardware
- Improve test coverage, uptime, throughput, triage, repeatability, and traceability
- Establish reliability and yield metrics
- Lead root-cause analysis across test systems and units under test
