About the Role
You will build and maintain the core compute platform that powers code execution, SQL querying, and data processing. You will design APIs, optimize performance, develop caching and dependency systems, instrument complex applications, and contribute across backend data systems and the collaborative notebook interface.
Requirements
- 6+ years of engineering experience
- Expert-level understanding of Python
- Expert-level understanding of SQL
- Expert-level understanding of Jupyter kernels and/or data warehousing systems
- Knowledge of data processing, databases, and performant data architectures
- Experience working in a remote-first team
- Strong communication skills
Responsibilities
- Use DuckDB to enable interoperability between Python and SQL
- Build caching systems to accelerate customer data queries
- Implement graph-based dependency frameworks for execution plans
- Instrument multi-language systems to identify performance bottlenecks
- Build visualizations that explain code performance
