About the Role
You will take newly racked CPU and GPU servers through inventory, imaging, configuration, activation, and validation handoff. You will configure out-of-band management, BIOS, storage modes, and firmware; perform PXE-based operating-system provisioning; and troubleshoot onboarding failures. You will track inventory, document hardware issues, coordinate remediation, and follow established runbooks to keep high-volume deployments moving.
Requirements
- 2+ years of Linux systems-administration experience
- Familiarity with IPMI, BMC, iDRAC, server hardware, BIOS, RAID or JBOD, firmware, and hardware troubleshooting
- PXE booting and automated OS provisioning experience
- Basic networking knowledge including DHCP, VLANs, IPv4, and IPv6
- Familiarity with Puppet or configuration-management tools
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages
- Experience working in high-volume deployment environments with remote-hands support
Responsibilities
- Provision and configure newly racked CPU and GPU servers for production
- Configure and verify IPMI or BMC, BIOS settings, RAID or JBOD modes, and firmware
- Perform PXE booting and automated OS provisioning
- Run and monitor Puppet configuration management on provisioned servers
- Triage and document DOA servers, failed components, and RMA candidates
- Coordinate with networking, storage, provisioning, validation, and on-site technicians
- Maintain fleet inventory including switch assignments, rack locations, credentials, disks, and GPUs
- Follow onboarding runbooks and document issues and workarounds
