About the Role

You will define thermal and fluid-dynamics simulation strategy, build standardized CFD workflows, and lead thermal experiments. You will evaluate actuator thermal and structural trade-offs, develop simulation databases and tools, integrate analysis with FEA, advise on technical risks, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

  • PhD or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Thermal Science with a focus on fluid dynamics and heat transfer
  • 10+ years of professional experience
  • Experience establishing simulation departments or leading large-scale virtual validation programs
  • Experience taking products from architecture through mass production
  • Proficiency in Ansys Fluent, Ansys Mechanical, STAR-CCM+, or Simcenter Flotherm
  • Custom UDF development experience
  • Knowledge of conduction, convection, and radiation in high-power-density electromechanical systems
  • Experience with data acquisition and sensing technologies
  • Python, C++, or MATLAB proficiency
  • Knowledge of high-performance materials, aerospace-grade coatings, and advanced manufacturing processes
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Define the long-term vision for thermal and fluid-dynamics simulation
  • Create and enforce standardized CFD evaluation processes
  • Lead thermal experiments and instrumentation strategies
  • Drive structural and thermal trade-off decisions for high-torque actuators
  • Build and govern a robotics-specific parameter database
  • Integrate thermal-fluid analysis with static and dynamic FEA
  • Advise leadership on technical risks and hardware scalability
  • Lead technical reviews and mentor engineers
