About the Role

You will develop electromechanical subsystems for a surgical robotic system, independently and with other engineers. You will design robotic mechanisms, prototype, debug, test, analyze risks, and improve safety and functionality. You will follow design standards, quality-management processes, and project plans while communicating technical work to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, biomedical, robotics, materials science, or computer science
  • At least 5 years of robot product development experience with a bachelor's degree or 3 years with a master's degree
  • Experience developing multi-DOF robotic systems from concept to functional prototype
  • Mechanical design expertise for robotic mechanisms, joints, transmissions, kinematics, dynamics, and workspace analysis
  • Working knowledge of electrical design, PCB design, component selection, and wiring
  • FDA-compliant design experience
  • SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, and GD&T proficiency
  • Hands-on prototyping, debugging, and testing experience
  • Programming ability with Python, MATLAB, C, or C++
  • Ability to work on-site in Santa Monica or Malibu, California five days per week
