You will define structural standards and requirements, own system loads, and lead static, dynamic, fatigue, composite, vibration, and shock analyses. You will improve test processes, optimize weight, review engineering evidence, mentor engineers, and provide structural guidance for design and production issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- 12+ years of structural analysis experience on aircraft, UAS, or comparable systems
- Experience serving as a structural lead or technical authority
- Experience creating structural design criteria, analysis methods, or engineering standards
- Expert knowledge of structural mechanics, strength, stability, fatigue, and structural dynamics
- Expertise with FEA tools such as Siemens Simcenter, ANSYS, or Abaqus
- Experience analyzing composite aircraft structures
- Expert knowledge of bolted-joint analysis and design
- Experience with vibration and shock testing and MIL-STD-810
- Experience mentoring engineers
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain structural standards and design criteria
- Own system loads and define structural requirements for subsystems, components, and suppliers
- Lead static, stability, modal, dynamic, and fatigue analyses
- Lead composite structural analysis and define composite design requirements
- Serve as the bolted-joint expert
- Own vibration and shock environments and develop test requirements
