About the Role
You will own the environmental control system architecture, analysis, design, and integration for an aircraft program. You will perform system trades, size thermal and fluid systems, design air inlets and cooling circuits, source components, manage suppliers, and define validation tests. You will analyze flight-test data, investigate anomalies, and implement design improvements.
Requirements
- 7 to 12 years of direct experience in aerospace environmental control systems and vehicle thermal or fluid system development
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Mastery of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer for aircraft or defense systems
- Experience with 1D system modeling and fluid-thermal network analysis
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling, routing, drawing release, and PLM workflows
- Experience sourcing aerospace components, managing suppliers, and assembling test setups
- Ability to self-direct technical work and deliver hardware under tight timelines
- Eligibility for a security clearance
Responsibilities
- Lead environmental control system architecture definition and trade studies
- Design and analyze air inlets, scoops, ducting networks, and ram-air cooling circuits
- Perform thermodynamic and heat-transfer calculations and fluid-thermal network modeling
- Author technical specifications and statements of work for environmental control system hardware
- Evaluate vendors and drive supplier technical execution
- Define qualification and verification test plans and design test rigs
- Support instrumentation and data-acquisition setup and execute test campaigns
- Analyze flight-test thermal and fluid data
- Investigate root causes of anomalies and implement rapid design changes
