About the Role
You will take factory problems from specification through mechanism selection, CAD design, engineering calculations, prototyping, machining, machine programming, commissioning, and deployment. You will design robotic handling equipment, analyse performance, specify sensors, build test robots, and share learnings across sites.
Requirements
- Have built systems, ideally robots
- Diagnose system-wide failures from first principles
- Prototype mechanical and software fixes
- Work autonomously and communicate clearly
- Take responsibility for machine performance in live production
- Have basic software engineering skills
Responsibilities
- Turn factory problems into clear specifications
- Generate and select mechanisms
- Design machines in CAD and validate them with engineering calculations
- Prototype and machine parts in an in-house CNC shop
- Program machine behaviour on the robotics operating system
- Analyse end-effector behaviour and improve geometry and control approaches
- Specify sensors for machine and chemical-process monitoring
- Prototype and deploy test robots for in-line PCB validation
- Commission machines and hand them over for scaled production
- Share learnings across US and UK sites
