About the Role

You will design, simulate, tune, and validate motor control for permanent-magnet synchronous motors across robotic joints. You will develop control modes, calibrate sensors, characterize performance on dynamometers, define fault reactions, maintain control models, and work from simulation through full-robot validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 3+ years of industry motor-control experience
  • Production or formal-validation experience with field-oriented control for PMSM or BLDC motors
  • PMSM dq-frame modelling and space-vector PWM knowledge
  • Motor parameter identification and position-sensor calibration experience
  • Dynamometer testing experience
  • MATLAB/Simulink or Python modelling and simulation
  • Embedded C/C++ reading ability

Responsibilities

  • Design and tune field-oriented control and cascaded control loops
  • Deliver torque and impedance control modes
  • Build motor parameter identification processes
  • Own encoder, Hall sensor, resolver, and commutation calibration procedures
  • Reduce torque ripple and acoustic noise
  • Implement field weakening, MTPA, and voltage-limit handling
  • Define and validate fault detection and safe torque-off behavior
  • Characterize motor control performance on dynamometers
  • Build and maintain control-oriented plant models

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings Account options
  • Commuter benefits
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
