About the Role
You will design and maintain petabyte-scale, high-performance databases and data models to support real-time investigations and analytics. You will build and optimize production data pipelines (batch and streaming), diagnose and tune complex SQL queries under heavy load, and own infrastructure initiatives from query optimization and index strategy to storage optimization and system resilience. You will create self-serve automation for tasks like pgbouncer provisioning and cluster scaling, deliver fast observable solutions, and collaborate cross-functionally to deploy reliable end-to-end data workflows.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics infrastructure, or backend systems with RDBMS depth
- Experience implementing and maintaining database security measures including access control, encryption, and compliance with security frameworks and standards
- Proven expertise with at least one of Postgres, MySQL, or SQL Server at production scale
- Strong command of SQL reasoning and the ability to debug, explain, and optimize queries
- Experience designing and evolving data models (normalized and denormalized) for analytical or operational use cases
- Familiarity with data pipeline frameworks such as Airflow, DBT, or custom orchestration
- Systems thinking and an ownership mindset for solving ambiguous, cross-functional problems end to end
