About the Role
You will set technical direction for shared backend infrastructure, including durable workflows, transaction ordering, and concurrency control. You will design cross-service systems, define reliability standards, build reusable tooling, align engineering teams, and identify architectural risk before it causes incidents.
Requirements
- Have 8–10+ years of backend software engineering experience
- Have experience setting technical direction across multiple services or teams
- Have expertise in durable workflow systems, distributed transaction ordering, or data-consistency guarantees
- Be proficient in TypeScript
- Have production experience with Effect or a comparable functional effect system
- Have experience designing reusable shared platform components
- Have experience driving cross-team technical alignment
- Understand idempotency, at-least-once delivery, crash recovery, and reconciliation
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for cross-cutting backend platform infrastructure
- Design cross-service data flows, migration strategies, and shared API versioning
- Establish reliability standards, load testing profiles, deployment safety gates, and failure-mode analysis
- Build shared tooling, templates, CI patterns, service scaffolding, and observability conventions
- Align engineering teams on shared technical direction
- Represent backend platform engineering in cross-organizational technical planning
- Identify architectural risk before it causes incidents
