About the Role

You will develop mathematical models, parameter-estimation pipelines, calibration tools, and feedback and feedforward controls for autonomous robots. You will run system-identification experiments, improve robot accuracy with data, integrate software with hardware, resolve production issues, and lead technical design decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience building production robotics systems
  • Knowledge of dynamics, controls, and system identification
  • Experience with least-squares regression, parameter estimation, state-space modeling, transfer-function modeling, and controller design
  • Experience characterizing electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency in Rust, Python, or C++
  • Ability to design, implement, and maintain high-reliability software systems
  • Experience integrating software with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems
  • Knowledge of testing, documentation, code review, and software architecture
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute system-identification experiments for robot actuators, mechanisms, and subsystems
  • Fit dynamic models to derive feedforward and feedback controllers
  • Own kinematic calibration workflows for robot arms and mobile bases
  • Build automated calibration and system-identification tooling for production hardware
  • Implement robot behaviors and task-level intelligence across the robotics stack
  • Improve autonomy quality and arm accuracy using data, operational metrics, and model validation
  • Collaborate on software-hardware integration and resolve production robotics issues
  • Lead technical design reviews and architecture decisions
  • Mentor engineers and technicians on reliability, testing, and operational excellence
  • Support production operations through an on-call rotation
