Epoch AI investigates the trajectory of artificial intelligence by tracking drivers and bottlenecks, measuring model capabilities, and forecasting AI’s impacts. It operates public datasets and benchmarking work, and also provides commissioned research, model evaluations, and consultations.

About the Role
You will own design work for the website and data products, translating complex research into intuitive interfaces, dashboards, and visualizations. You will set design direction, manage designers and contributors, conduct user research, and deliver polished designs from initial problem definition through launch.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing interactive digital products and leading projects
- Experience managing a small design team
- Fluency interpreting data visualizations and statistical insights
- Portfolio demonstrating UI/UX and data-visualization experience
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and lead design in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of typography, color, and layout
- Proficiency with Figma, including auto-layout and components
- Experience establishing or maintaining a design system
- Prior familiarity with Epoch AI's work
- Professional-level English proficiency
Responsibilities
- Manage designers and part-time contributors
- Define and own strategy for the website and data products
- Establish design processes and quality standards
- Lead design projects from problem definition through delivery
- Design responsive user interfaces and graphs
- Conduct user research
- Create design specifications, mock-ups, prototypes, and design-library contributions
