About the Role
You will manage two closely related engineering teams, owning the product and technical roadmap for developer tooling. You will provide hands-on technical guidance in design and code reviews, set milestones and define MVPs, prioritize scope, identify dependencies, and mitigate risks. You will mentor engineers, run performance and career development processes, improve hiring practices, and communicate progress and direction to stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful deliveries.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience directly managing and growing engineering teams in a remote or async environment
- 6+ years of experience technically leading projects and driving multi-year roadmaps
- Ability to direct without micromanaging
- Experience implementing or refining processes around performance reviews, career development, and hiring
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable software architectures
- Strong expertise in conducting code, design, and product launch reviews
- Nice to have: experience building extensible developer tools and test environments
- Nice to have: experience with open source projects and/or TypeScript or Rust
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and participate in code reviews and design decisions
- Mentor engineers and guide technical decisions
- Own projects and ensure on-time delivery with required features and quality
- Define MVPs, set milestones, and assess project feasibility
- Manage project scope, prioritize tasks, identify dependencies, and mitigate risks
- Collaborate with product managers to translate user needs into a technical roadmap
- Implement and improve performance reviews, career development plans, and hiring processes
- Establish clear team structure with roles and ownership
- Communicate with leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment
- Champion the team's achievements and increase transparency
