About the Role
You will lead multiple engineering teams building the Affinidi Elements platform, blending people leadership with technical leadership. You'll manage and support teams working across the full stack, while your backend expertise guides architecture, quality, and technical strategy. You'll grow high-performing fullstack teams, define best practices, and stay hands-on in critical technical decisions to keep systems secure, scalable, and performant.
Requirements
- Proven track record of leading engineering organizations in global, high-growth environments while driving on-time delivery of high-quality systems at scale
- Strong leadership skills: coaching, mentoring, developing leaders, and fostering high-performing, inclusive teams
- Skilled at balancing strategic vision with practical execution, aligning engineering teams with business outcomes
- Strong knowledge of TypeScript/Node.js; Dart experience preferred; familiarity with C#, Go, or similar is a plus
- Experience with React/Next.js and/or Flutter, demonstrating solid understanding of modern web and/or mobile development practices
- Proven success in designing, deploying, and scaling microservices in cloud environments, specifically AWS
- Advocate for privacy, security, cryptography, and resilient system design; experience with asynchronous cryptography and identity/authentication domains is a strong plus
- Skilled at balancing technical leadership and people leadership, growing teams while staying engaged in critical technical decisions
- Excel at cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and security stakeholders
- Thrive in fast-moving startup environments, building autonomous teams that experiment, learn, and deliver at speed
- Experience working across functions, locations, and time zones (bonus)
- Backend expertise in RUST (bonus)
- Expertise in decentralized identity solutions (bonus)
- Experience building systems with advanced cryptography requirements (bonus)
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple engineering teams, providing vision, direction, and coaching to managers, staff engineers, and senior ICs
- Drive engineering execution and on-time delivery of secure, performant, and customer-centric systems
- Oversee and contribute to the design and development of high-scale, high-performance distributed production systems
- Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to define and execute the technology roadmap
- Establish and evolve engineering best practices, delivery processes, and quality standards to scale effectively
- Mentor and develop engineering leaders, fostering career growth, leadership depth, and technical excellence
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies, bringing innovative approaches to improve scalability, architecture, and developer experience
- Champion privacy by design, security-first principles, and high-quality engineering across backend and frontend systems
