About the Role

You'll partner directly with the founder to scale and deepen a platform that's already live with real users. This is a high-impact founder-level role where you'll inherit and evolve a live codebase, accelerate feature development, and harden infrastructure as the company grows from beta into full product launch. You'll wear many hats, move fast, and have significant influence over the product, team, and company as it scales. The technical decisions you make now will define the company for years.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of building and shipping complex products
• Strong backend and infrastructure expertise with system architecture, APIs, and databases
• Comfortable with Python, Node.js, or similar
• Experience with health data and integrations such as lab data, EHR systems, wearable APIs, or healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)
• Data pipeline and ETL experience ingesting, transforming, and normalizing data from multiple sources
• Cloud infrastructure proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure
• AI/ML implementation experience with recommendation systems, NLP, conversational AI, or predictive models
• Experience with LLMs and prompt engineering
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements and ability to build systems that protect sensitive health data
• Comfortable with AI-native development workflows using Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub, or similar tools
• Preference on experience with Python and Typescript
• Experience with Cloud platforms like AWS, GCP
• Experience in healthcare technology and understanding of health data privacy regulations (HIPAA, state telemedicine laws)
• Startup mentality and experience thriving in early-stage, ambiguous environments

Responsibilities

• Inherit a working beta with real users and make it faster, more reliable, and more capable
• Assess the existing architecture, close gaps, and build on the existing foundation
• Evolve and deepen backend infrastructure, APIs, and data models powering personalized health insights
• Design systems that synthesize lab results, wearable data, symptoms, and medical history into actionable intelligence
• Build on and expand ETL pipelines ingesting data from lab providers, wearables, medical records, and user-entered data
• Ensure data integrity, security, and HIPAA compliance
• Implement and refine conversational AI health check-ins, treatment recommendation engine, and predictive models
• Work with Claude and other AI tools to accelerate development
• Implement and maintain encryption, access controls, audit logging, and security best practices
• Use Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, and other AI-assisted development tools to accelerate building
• Mentor and guide additional engineers as the team scales
• Help establish engineering culture, practices, and standards
