About the Role
You will develop and maintain collaborative-work requirement profiles for operational functions and edge cases. You will map requirements to systems engineering needs and feature requests, maintain traceability, and develop human-machine teaming standards and design patterns. You will collaborate on interface and scenario designs, evaluate testing outcomes, advocate for human cognitive considerations, and present technical rationale to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human factors engineering, psychology, cognitive systems engineering, applied cognitive science, industrial and systems engineering, or a related field
- 3–5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 2–4 years with a Master's degree, or 2 years with a PhD for the Senior Engineer level
- Experience translating human-machine teaming experimentation into design guidance and system requirements
- Knowledge of human-machine teaming, human factors, and human performance theory and measurement
- Knowledge of cognitive task analysis and knowledge elicitation
- Experience with experimental design, human-participant research, and multivariate statistical analysis
- Proficiency with SPSS, R, or Python
- Experience working in multidisciplinary and ambiguous problem spaces
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Eligibility for a U.S. DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain higher-level access
- U.S. citizenship
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain collaborative work requirement profiles
- Generate profile variants for edge and off-nominal cases
- Define operator-autonomy requirements and associated mission risks
- Classify operator-autonomy interdependencies
- Map requirements to systems engineering requirements and feature requests
- Maintain traceability from operational needs through test and acceptance
- Develop human-machine teaming standards, design patterns, and review criteria
- Collaborate on interface design guidance and reviews
- Evaluate scenario designs, testing protocols, and outcomes
- Present designs and supporting evidence to multiple audiences
- Travel to project, test, demonstration, and customer locations
