About the Role
You will design fault-tolerant circuits, diagnostic mechanisms, and safe-state functions for robot electronics. You will select safety architectures and components, perform FMEDA and reliability analyses, verify SIL metrics, review layouts for safety compliance, document hardware safety work, and integrate safety functions with engineering partners.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
- At least five years designing electronics hardware for functional-safety-certified products
- Experience with IEC 61508, ISO 13849, or ISO 26262
- Experience delivering PCB-level hardware certified to SIL 2 or SIL 3, or equivalent
- Background in analog, power, or mixed-signal circuit design
- Hands-on safety-architecture implementation in schematics
- Ability to perform FMEDA and SIL metric calculations
- Understanding of failure-rate data and component derating
- Ability to debug fault-tolerant hardware
Responsibilities
- Design fault-tolerant circuits for safety-critical subsystems
- Implement hardware diagnostics and monitoring mechanisms
- Design circuits that enforce safe states after fault detection
- Apply common-cause failure mitigation at component and PCB levels
- Perform FMEDA and calculate Safe Failure Fraction and Diagnostic Coverage
- Build Reliability Block Diagrams and compute SIL metrics
- Select and derate components using failure-rate data and mission profiles
- Advise system architects and review PCB layouts for safety compliance
- Integrate safety functions with electronics, firmware, and systems engineers
- Create and maintain functional-safety documentation
