About the Role

You will design motor-controller and power-distribution boards for robotic platforms, owning architecture, component selection, validation, and production release. You will integrate hardware with firmware and mechanical systems, diagnose failures, validate performance, and improve electrical design practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 4+ years designing power electronics, motor drives, or high-current embedded hardware
  • Experience with motor controller boards, power distribution boards, DC/DC converters, inverters, or related power systems
  • Knowledge of power semiconductors, gate drives, sensing, magnetics, protection circuits, and control loops
  • Experience with thermal analysis, power integrity, grounding, creepage and clearance, and high-current PCB layout
  • Proficiency with Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, or a comparable PCB design tool
  • Ability to run circuit, power-electronics, and thermal simulations
  • Familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, and UART
  • Lab experience with oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, power analyzers, and thermal cameras
  • Experience shipping hardware products to production
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design, functional safety, and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

  • Design motor controller boards, power distribution boards, and high-power electronics
  • Own power-stage architecture, schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout reviews
  • Define grounding, power sequencing, fault handling, and system interfaces
  • Develop drive electronics and firmware commutation interfaces
  • Integrate and test systems with firmware, controls, mechanical, and software engineers
  • Write and execute validation plans for electrical, thermal, EMC/EMI, and environmental performance
  • Diagnose power integrity, motor-control, thermal, and reliability failures
  • Drive designs through DFM, certification, production testing, and manufacturing ramp
  • Drive electrical design best practices

Benefits

  • Unlimited flexible time off
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid parental leave
  • Fully paid parking
  • Referral bonus
  • 401k
