About the Role
You will lead the scanner's electrical architecture and all board-level design. You will take complex boards from architecture through layout, vendor management, bring-up, and revision control. You will develop embedded firmware, review FPGA code, define cross-functional electrical interfaces, establish regulated-device engineering practices, and mentor the electrical function.
Requirements
- Complex board design across high-speed digital and analog or mixed-signal domains
- Schematic and layout skills with Altium, KiCad, or equivalent
- Signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMI or EMC knowledge
- Embedded firmware development in C, C++, and Python
- HDL experience with VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
- Hardware bring-up and debugging with scopes and logic analyzers
- Technical leadership and written documentation
Responsibilities
- Lead the scanner electrical architecture and board-level technical direction
- Own complex board design from architecture through fabrication, assembly, bring-up, and revision control
- Develop embedded firmware for MCU and SoC targets
- Audit and update FPGA code for data acquisition, synchronization, triggering, and preprocessing
- Define electrical interfaces, timing budgets, and failure modes with software, reconstruction, ML, and mechanical partners
- Establish design reviews, test procedures, fixtures, and regulated-device documentation
- Mentor the electrical function and manage external design partners
