About the Role
You will set editorial direction and programming priorities for podcast shows, develop episodes and interview briefs, and manage production from planning through distribution. You will build scalable systems, lead staff and contractors, manage studio operations, and use audience metrics to improve programming and growth.
Requirements
- Have 8+ years of professional experience in editorial, content leadership, or production roles in podcasting, broadcast media, digital media, or a related field.
- Demonstrate editorial ownership of a media product.
- Possess familiarity with U.S. foreign policy, national security, and relevant institutions and players.
- Use podcast production tools and workflows for recording, audio and video editing, and multi-platform distribution.
- Demonstrate experience building or shaping a small team and managing contractors or internal staff.
- Build systems that support timely, high-quality output across multiple projects.
- Work effectively with senior executives in a high-trust environment.
- Set, communicate, and execute strategic direction.
- Be available to work from the Washington, DC office in accordance with production schedules.
Responsibilities
- Set editorial direction, programming priorities, content standards, and long-term strategy.
- Develop episode concepts and interview briefs.
- Manage host scheduling, communications, episode logistics, and creative expectations.
- Support guest outreach and booking coordination.
- Lead the full production lifecycle from planning through multi-platform distribution.
- Build scalable production systems and consistent release cadences.
- Maintain audio, video, content-flow, and brand-quality standards.
- Manage studio operations and recording technology.
- Recruit, hire, and develop podcast staff.
- Manage contractors and day-to-day production operations.
- Develop and execute audience-growth strategy.
- Monitor performance metrics and use them to guide programming and distribution decisions.
