About the Role

You will lead litigation strategy, manage outside counsel and legal readiness processes, and coordinate incident response. You will counsel Product, Engineering, and Safety and Regulatory stakeholders on legal risks, product liability, regulatory reporting, product releases, customer-facing materials, and commercial operations.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active membership in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar
• 7+ years of legal experience

Responsibilities

• Own the litigation docket, oversee outside counsel, manage budgets, set strategy, and drive resolution
• Build and run litigation readiness processes, including legal holds, response playbooks, and evidence preservation protocols
• Lead legal coordination for cross-functional incident response
• Develop litigation readiness frameworks for driver-out commercial operations and recalls
• Manage the outside litigation counsel panel
• Report litigation exposure and trends to senior leadership
• Advise on record retention, insurance, and cybersecurity in relation to litigation readiness and incident response
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Safety and Regulatory stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risk
• Advise on product liability exposure related to the autonomous driving system
• Support regulatory reporting, including crash, defect, recall, and early-warning reporting
• Provide legal analysis for product release decisions and safety artifact requirements
• Translate autonomous-vehicle regulations into practical internal guidance
• Advise on go-to-market issues, customer agreements, and fleet partner requirements
• Review external communications, technical publications, and customer-facing materials for legal risk
• Develop expertise in vehicle safety standards, ADS exemption processes, and commercial vehicle safety requirements
• Contribute to legal process improvements, playbooks, and knowledge management
